- As luck would have it, Bobby had a lab late on Wednesday afternoon. On most days Amber and Bobby rode to school together, but on Wednesday, they went separately and Amber got home around 1 PM. Billy was usually home by Noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. He was almost always playing video games or studying when she got home.
- One Wednesday she got home and when she climbed the stairs, saw that the twins' bedroom door was closed. She knew Billy was home because his car was in the driveway.
